Brian Harney
Brian Harney (Class of 1998) is Professor and Head of Work Psychology and Strategy at Dublin City University Business School. His research focuses on strategy and people management, with particular interest in small firms, scaling and employee experiences of work.
Brian has published several books including Strategy and Strategists (Oxford University Press), Protecting the Future of Work (Emerald) and The Global Case Book (Routledge). He completed his undergraduate degree in Business and Sociology at Trinity College Dublin, his Masters in Strategy and People Management at the University of Galway, and his PhD at the University of Cambridge.
An award-winning educator, Brian developed and rolled out the BSc in Digital Business and Innovation at DCU. He has held visiting academic positions in China, the US, Slovenia and New Zealand, and has served as an elected representative for national and international Academy of Management associations.
Brian credits much of his career foundation to his educational experience at St. David’s – and still proudly (if questionably!) owns the same Spurs jersey from 1997 PE.
