Past Pupils Reunite for St David’s ‘6s’ Gathering
The St David’s Past Pupils’ Union was delighted to host the first in a new series of year-group reunions on Friday 8 May 2026, welcoming all past pupils who finished school in a year ending in 6 – from 1966 right through to 2016. Graduates returned in steady numbers, eager to retrace their steps through the corridors, classrooms and familiar corners of the newly developed St David’s.
Principal Simon Carey addressed the gathering with a warm and insightful speech, reflecting on St David’s 120-year history in Greystones and the role the Past Pupils’ Union plays in maintaining that legacy. He highlighted the importance of connection between the school and its past pupils, and how these relationships continue to enrich current students and the wider community.
He was followed by past pupil and PPU committee member Peter Brady, who spoke passionately about the value of networks and mentoring as pupils move from school days into their careers and through different stages of life.
The event was generously supported by students from Transition Year, who volunteered their Friday evening to provide guided tours of the new school building. The St David’s Parents’ Association kindly assisted with refreshments, and the school lotto stand was also well staffed on the night. Catering was provided by Andrew Holmes, whose food was very much appreciated by all in attendance.
Music for the evening was provided on the school piano by students Tom Woodley and Kate McAdam. The Past Pupils’ Union would like to extend sincere thanks to everyone who attended the 6s reunion and to Greystones Guide for helping to spread the word about the event.
Plans are already underway for a “7s” reunion in May 2027, bringing together past pupils from the classes of 1967, 1977, 1987, 1997, 2007 and 2017. There is also strong interest in additional events later in the year and details will be shared in due course on social media and via the Past Pupils’ Union website.
Past pupils are warmly encouraged to stay connected by creating or updating their profile on the PPU online directory at: https://stdavidsppu.com/directory/. This is the best way to receive news of future reunions, events and opportunities to support current students.
Special thanks to John McGowan for the wonderful photographs from the evening, which accompany this article and capture the spirit of the reunion so well.
